Honeysuckle Day

(John McGie/Jon Lundquist)

HONEYSUCKLE DAY

Another pleasant day
The sun is shining down
I fell in love this morning
With the sweetest girl in town
Her smile is like ice cream
His kisses sure taste so sweet
Holding hands together
While we walk on down the street
Singing

Oo I love to live the love you give to me
On this Honeysuckle Day
Mmm Honeysuckle Day

Her lips are smooth like lavender
Her laugh can cure the day
Her freckled face undoes me
As we lie amongst the hay
Her toes are tapping rhythm
To a song that’s in her head
Her eyes can tell me everything
Not a singly world is said
I’m singing

I love to lay you in a field
Fragrant full and sweet
The grass dancing all around us
The world is complete
On this Honeysuckle Day

She breaths a summer breeze
She wears a halo in her hair
She lifts me up to play with
Like bubbles in the air
We’re like Christmas and the fourth of July
All rolled into one
Living in a candy store
While lying in the sun
